Stop Going Around The Same Mountain

September 18, 2015 1 comment

MountainDo you find yourself in the same cycle each week – day in and day out? Are you feeling frustrated about not being in a certain place in your life, ministry, business or career yet? If so, then it may be time for you to “stop going around the same mountain” expecting a different result. It may be time for you to break camp to possess what God has shown you.

One of my favorite scriptures is Deuteronomy 1:6-8 (NIV) which reads, “(6)The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. (7) Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates. (8) See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.” I want to share with you 3 key principles from this passage of scripture to help you to “Stop Going Around The Same Mountain.”

1.  You have stayed at this mountain long enough.

  • Sometimes, you can get stuck in a place that you become use to, comfortable in or a place that you are afraid to leave.
  • God will speak to you when you have stayed in a place too long. He will let you know when it is time to leave.
  • Long enough is when you have “over stayed” your assigned time.

2.  It’s time to break camp.

  • It’s time for you to show some signs of turning away from the mountain. It’s time to develop a plan of action to stop what you are doing to advance to the place you want to be.
  • To “advance” means to move forward in position. It’s an indication that it is  time to make something happen to further your progress. It’s time to go to higher heights – to the hills.
  • It’s time to get moving in possessing the land.

3.  Go in a take possession of the land.

  • CONFIDENCE –  you need to have an assurance that what God said is for you is for you. (Philippians 1:6 and Hebrews 10:35)
  • COURAGE –  you need a supernatural fearlessness and bravery to possess what’s yours. (Deuteronomy 31:6-8; Joshua 1:6-9; I Corinthians 16:13)
  • FAITH TO BELIEVE – Faith will never be magic, but a systematic spiritual process that brings to pass the will of God for your personal life. It’s the key to everything!

If you are tired of repeating the same cycles not going any further in life, you will have to stop going around the same mountain, break camp and possess what’s yours.

My 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer Journey

August 11, 2015 Leave a comment

testimonyI pray that this article finds you experiencing the goodness of God in your everyday life, ministry and business.

As some people know I completed 21 days of fasting and prayer on August 8th. The purpose of the fast was for clarity, understanding and direction. The reasons I decided to fast were because one, I feeling sluggish in my spirit, second, I was spiritually tired and weary, third, I knew something was missing spiritually and naturally, but I couldn’t put my finger on it and fourth, I wanted God to reveal to me what I couldn’t see going on around me and what I didn’t understand was going on within me.

I chose the Daniel’s fast because the Word of God teaches in Daniel 10 that Daniel set his mind to gain understanding and he humbled himself before God through 21 days of fasting. I wanted the spiritual warfare to be defeated by the power of the Holy Spirit on my behalf and I needed a strength stronger than my own to conquer the state of mind that I was in.

What Has This 21 Days Journey Been Like For Me?

Overall, this experience was a blessing for me. It started off good, however, I was disappointed that some people who I thought would (and should) join me didn’t. There were some family and friends that I was depending on to be a part of this journey. What a “breakthrough” for me that they did not. In the past, my discouragement would come from expecting people I know to be a part of what I was doing. Today, I only expect the ones God wants to be a part to be a apart of what I am doing?

As my inner man was being strengthen, the Lord revealed to me three main things that were lacking in my life concerning my ministry, calling and business:

  1. Momentum –  mine was low because I was focusing on the wrong people wanting the right results.
  2. Asking – I was asking the wrong person for help. The right person became the wrong person when he/she doesn’t honor their word. I was wrong to continue asking the person for help.
  3. Accountability – I wasn’t accountable to the right people because my momentum  was low and I was focused on the wrong person.

What I Know For Sure!

I have been entrusted with the wisdom of God, a preaching assignment, and an awesome gift of teaching. Because my momentum and excitement became weary in doing well, I sat on my gifts for a season – using them “just a little bit.” God revealed to me that I am equipped and trained with all that I need to experience the more abundant life purposed for me.

The Lord showed me that there are people who I am assigned to – that’s you and others – that are waiting for me to continue on in my assignment showing up in a big way for them with what He has given me. I have been entrusted  with the solutions to their problems and answers to their questions.

What’s My Commitment To God and You!

As a result of this time of fasting and prayer my commitments are:

  1. I commit to trusting completely in God being led by His Spirit in knowing who to trust in the natural.
  2. I commit to using my spiritual gifts and talents wholeheartedly to empower, equip and train the Body of Christ with biblical principles and strategies for victorious living.
  3. I commit to using my business and ministry training and skills to teach other how to be successful in the market place and in marketplace ministry.
  4. I commit to establishing divine connections for spiritual growth and success in kingdom living and prosperity.

Having the gift of wisdom means having other gifts connected to it. One can teach without wisdom just releasing information. However, with the gift of wisdom, it is hard to teach and not bring about transformation in the lives of others.

I have been entrusted with a lot from God and I commit to doing “greater works” from now until it’s time for my glory transition.

Thanks to those who took this 21 day journey with me, those who prayed for me and for being connected to me.

My commitment to you is to stay connected to you, serving you with what I have in a spirit of truth, integrity and loyalty.

Know Your Spiritual Gift – What Should You Do Next?

spiritual-gifts-815x400

What should You do once You know my Gift(s)? Here are seven ways to unwrap your spiritual gifts.

  1. Dedicate yourself to learning more about your gift and how God wants you to use it. He will let you know in his time what you are to do.
  2. Develop your gift by using it. Seek out a Pastor or biblically based life coach, take courses that relate to the gift, and pay attention to how you develop in your gift.
  3. Study the Scripture.
  4. Talk to others having the same gifts because they will either have insights or may need your encouragement.
  5. Pray for guidance and strength. You may become discouraged at times about your gift and how you are being use or not being used.
  6. Be sensitive to the need of others when it comes to executing your gift.
  7. Do not neglect your role because God entrusted it to you for a reason.

Facts about Spiritual Gifts:

  • Spiritual Gifts are not natural ability or talent.
  • Spiritual Gifts are not the Fruit of Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).
  • Spiritual Gifts can be abused.
  • Spiritual Gifts are received, not achieved.
  • The Gifts allow for diversity within unity because we each have unique work to do.
  • Each member of the Body of Christ is unique, important, and useful.
  • Spiritual Gifts are good but only when ministered in love (1 Corinthians 13).
  • The Gifts are diverse, but all are equally honorable.

Eight Ways to Discover Your Spiritual Gifts

Discovering your Spiritual Gifts

How do you discover your Spiritual Gifts? Here are eight ways I believe will help you.

  1. Understand what the gifts are. Once you understand each gift you will be able to discern more effectively what yours might be.
  2. Accept that you are gifted with these special endowments given to you by the Holy Spirit on behalf of our Father who has a great plan for you.
  3. Analyze yourself. Look at your interests, passions, personality, and even your talents and skills.
  4. Seek confirmation from others. Sometimes people who are in tune with spiritual things can see what gifts you may have.
  5. Evaluate the results of all that you learned and observed about the gifts you believe you are blessed with. Do you see evidence of these gifts in your life?
  6. Dedicate yourself to ministry because in doing so you will eventually find your gifted path.
  7. Take an assessment online.
  8. Sit with a Biblical/Christian Coach, Counselor or pastor to determine where God might be using you.

Know Your Spiritual Gifts

Some people believe that knowing what your gifts are bare no true meaning. However, knowing the purpose of a thing is very useful. Not knowing the purpose of your gifts will cause you to live in what I call the “Haphazard Zone”.  That is the zone where you walk aimlessly through life, day-to-day not knowing who you are or what is going on. You are allowing life to happen to you and not living life to the fullest.

Discovering your spiritual gifts will open your eyes to the purpose of your life.

Can you imagine where your life would be if you understood what God had for you? Or what you were born to do? Everything has a purpose. When you don’t know the purpose of something you will abuse it. You have a destiny. You have a call. God gave you gifts that you were designed specifically for.

The three main reasons why you need to discover your Spiritual Gifts:

  1. Knowing your spiritual gift(s) will enable you to find your place of ministry in the Body of Christ. Every Christian has a particular function in the body of Christ. Your spiritual gifts equip you to carry that purpose out and to enhance the Body of Christ.
  2.  Knowing your spiritual gift(s) will enable you to determine your priorities. Knowing your gifts will keep your life with boundaries around it. You will not just let any and everything into your life. One of the most common problems we all face is having more things to do than we have time to do them. Paul says in Romans 12:6-8, that we should make the use of our spiritual gifts a priority in our lives. In simple terms, when we have too many things to do we must choose to function in the area of our spiritual gifts. In order to set priorities you must know what your spiritual gifting is.
  3. Knowing your spiritual gift(s) will be of great help in discerning God’s will. To expand our last point just a little bit further, knowing your spiritual gift(s) can be very helpful in discerning the will of God in the direction your life takes, especially your occupation. For example, if you do not have the gift of teaching or leadership, a teaching position perhaps that is not the field for you.  There is a very distinct relationship between knowing the will of God (Romans 12:1-2) and understanding your spiritual gift (Romans 12:3-8).

Here are a few more reasons why knowing your gift is important:

  • Commitment based on the focus of our gifts rather than abstract commitment will help you keep your commitments
  • You will have more effective service in whatever area you are working in
  • Appropriate commitment to ministry
  • You will have more confidence in overcoming inferiority about who you are and what you are to do

You Are Spiritually Responsible For Your Personal Growth

What is Personal Growth and Getting Yourself Together?

There are many people in our society today that are very unhappy or unsatisfied with their lives for one reason or another. Whatever reason they have for being unhappy, there is undoubtedly a way to change it. Sometimes it requires a change in career, or situation. Other times it is simply a change in the way that people think. Sometimes, it is both. This is what personal growth and “getting yourself together” is all about.

Personal growth is spiritual and a path that you take to better your family situation, career, spirituality, emotional health, and every other aspect of your life. Essentially, personal growth is about making conscious decisions about everything that you do, the way that you think, and the way that you react to situations. Personal growth can help you attain everything that you always dreamed of, and more, with the simple application of a few simple mind-set changes.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God –Romans 12:2 (NKJV).

One of the biggest steps toward personal growth is a change in mind-set. If you think [know] that you can do better, you will. If you think that you are stuck in a dead-end job, without family or friends to support you, and no prospects of a better future, you will ultimately be very unhappy. When you change your mind-set to positive thinking and knowing better for yourself, you will find that you put forth more effort into everything that you do, and you will have much better results.
