5 Qualities of A Great Life Coach

Diamond Coaching Success

When it comes to coaching people, there are a lot of good qualities that many coaches exhibit. In fact, every coach out there has some good qualities that you could list about them, but if you talk to enough coaches and you get to know the people at the top of the industry, you will notice a pattern starting to emerge. You will see that the most successful coaches actually share some of the same attributes. Here are five qualities that the greatest coaches have. See if you can develop these same attributes so that you’ll be in that elite club of successful coaches who are making a difference with their practice.

Self-Awareness: Self-awareness is a big one. You want to know yourself intimately because if you are still struggling with finding out who you are, you are going to have a major problem coaching other people.

Great Communication: The best coaches have great communication. They say the right things at the right times, and even more importantly, they listen. Listening is a skill that you want to develop and you want to understand and empathize with the people who you’re listening to so that you can communicate not only what you want to say, but also exactly what they need.

Perceptiveness: Great coaches are perceptive. They notice things. Coaches can tell when someone is not as motivated as they used to be, or when someone is having a bad day. This perceptiveness comes in handy when getting to the root of a client’s problem, and digging down into the beliefs and thoughts that drive a specific behavior.

Organized and Professional:  Great coaches are not only professional, dressing the part, and always having the right attitude, they are also very organized. Even if you aren’t naturally an organized person, you should take a class or just learn to do better because organization is vital to running a good coaching business. You’ll be collecting information about several different clients and helping them each with a different goal, and unless you are organized you are going to get confused and look unprofessional.

Flexible:  The best coaches are also very flexible. They can easily bounce back when someone throws them a curve ball. If a particular style of coaching or method isn’t working with a certain client, they are happy to change things up and allow them to learn from a completely different place, even if it isn’t one that they are most comfortable with.

SHIFT – From Point A to Point B Year End Challange Day 1

Banner Day 1

Good Evening Everyone!

I pray that you had a great weekend and a spirit-filled Sunday. It’s time to get started with the “SHIFT” – From Point A to Point B 15 Days Challenge.

If you are like me, you want to finish this year and move into the new year on point. I want to be positioned to prosper in so many ways. I know you want the same thing.

Positioning yourself to prosper means taking the necessary steps to get into the right position. It starts with knowing what you want and setting goals to get it.

Have you set important goals for yourself only to let them slowly slip away?

How many New Year’s resolutions did you make earlier this year? How many have you actually kept?

If you’re like most people, when you think about it, you won’t like the answers to these questions.

A Life Without Goals – No way! You can’t prosper without goal.

Life without goals is kind of like a ball on a Pin Ball machine. You give it a push and it bounces all over the place.

It has highs and lows and big scores and low ones.
It doesn’t do what it wants.
It just bounces back from hitting other things.
The other things seem to be in more control than the ball.
When the ball does finally go through the bottom it doesn’t return.

You don’t want to finish this year or go into the new year this way.

You don’t want to just wander around letting other things push you around and into the wrong direction.

You need to take command of your life and make a decision to SHIFT into the right position.

HERE IS YOUR GETTING READY ASSIGNMENT:

1. Make a list (or go back over) of your goals for this year.

2. Use a colored highlighter to identify the ones you completely ignored or didn’t get a chance to do.

3. Using a separate sheet of paper write down the ones you can take some action steps to begin before this year is out. Give yourself the dates to complete each step.

Catch The Ball

Catch The Ball

One of the key ingredients for success can be summed up with one simple word—Focus! On what? That’s easy—one thing at a time. You see, in this fast-paced, “multitask” society we live in, it seems we are judged by how many different things we can do all at one time; yet in reality, we can only do one thing well at any given time.

Imagine being on your computer playing music, checking emails, working on a Word document, Excel worksheet, and PowerPoint presentation, and looking up stuff on the Internet. Your system might move pretty slowly. Right? Guess what? The same applies to us. We can do things faster and better, if we focus on only one thing at a time.

To illustrate this point even more, I want to share the following example with you.

It’s 4th down, 12 seconds remain on the clock, and your team is down by 3 points. You are the wide receiver in the biggest football game of your life, and you are called upon to win the game for the home crowd. You line up to begin the final play. The ball is snapped and you run down field.

As the ball is heaved down field in your direction, you feel the anticipation of the event which is about to unfold. You envision it all in your head, step-by-step, move-by-move. You know exactly what is going to happen.

You catch the ball. You tuck it in close with the outside arm to keep from fumbling. You twist left and then right, throwing the defenders off guard. As more people run your way, you spin to the side, and dodge one close call after another, while jumping over the opponents like they are nothing more than simple obstacles.

You soar into the end zone. The gun explodes, ending the game. Your team is victorious. Your teammates rush the field and hoist you up on their shoulders. The crowd goes wild, chanting your name in unison.

Later that night, you are the talk of the town. Everyone wants to have a moment of your time to tell you “great job!” or shake your hand or pat you on the back. This is your time to shine! All the years of training and hard work have paid off. All eyes are on you. You are the man of the hour. Then BAM!

Your mind brings you back to the moment. You were lost in your imagination. You lost focus and redirected your thoughts and energy. The pass is drawing near. You juggle the ball as you start to run for the goal. The ball is never securely in your hands. The ball slides through your hands to the ground. The crowd goes silent in disbelief.

The only thing you hear is a voice inside repeating one of the coach’s basic lessons, “Before you can do anything else, you first need to catch the ball. Until you do that, everything else is pointless.”

Now, let me ask you—did you catch the ball? How many things are you juggling in your life?

Learn to focus on one thing, master it well, and then move on to another. Focus may be the missing ingredient in your recipe for success.

When it comes to starting and running a coaching program you definitely have lots of choices and options. This includes the topic of the coaching program itself, and the way it is run or delivered.

One On One Coaching – Many coaches like to offer personalized one on one coaching programs. With this type of program you would cater your offer around the person’s needs and goals. Programs of this type are often more expensive than other coaching programs.

Group Coaching – as the name implies this is done in a group setting. Group coaching can be done using tools such as Skype, Google Hangouts, video conferencing, live streaming services or by using a webinar software. All lessons are typically delivered online and are recorded. This way if anyone misses a lesson they can listen to the recordings.

Next let’s take a look at the types of coaching that can be offered. You could practically offer a coaching program for almost anything these days. Some of the most popular programs are those for life coaches, business coaches, sports coaches, career coaches, performance coaches and team coaches.

These coaches would cover different fields and industries. Each coach would be specialized in this particular field. Another popular coaching area is that of the online marketing coach. Many people today want to learn how to make money online, and what better way to do this than by hiring a coach?

As you can see the possibilities for what type of coaching program you could offer is huge. Of course, you want to coach in an area that you feel you can demonstrate your expertise in.

Your first step in becoming a coach is to first learn what it entails to be a good coach. Then define an area that you want to specialize in. Once you have done that, then you want to outline a course or program for your coaching offer. Once this is in place you can start looking for your very first coaching clients.

Coaching can be an extremely rewarding experience. Always remember that the person taking your coaching is looking for guidance and a path to success. If you can deliver these things you can earn a good reputation as a coach in your field.

Life Coach Specialization

There are different forms of life coaching available to meet the needs of individuals, companies and businesses. As a life coach, you can specialize on a certain field that you think you would do best. Each field is unique from each other, but interconnected too. Sometimes, you have to integrate one field to the other to make your coaching successful.

Relationship Coaching: Dr. Love

This involves helping your client deal with relationship issues in their lives. May it be a past love, present relationship, or even making decisions on choosing a life partner. A lot of people nowadays have love as their biggest problem. Teenagers and adults of all ages have this issue in their lives.

This type of coaching does not only include romantic relationships. It may also tackle family, friend, colleague, and neighborhood relations.  The client is taught and coached to realize that keeping the quality of relations to other people is important for their own personal growth.

Business Coaching: Doing It The Professional Way

Here, you help your client to become successful in their business life. You help them make decisions that are vital to their advancements.  Clients in this area probably face problems such as lack of confidence in themselves to run their business or to face the problems they encounter regarding the field.

As a coach, you help them see the clearer framework of the business world. You suggest strategies for them to evolve into a confident and successful business owner. You can help them start a business, take it to the next level, advertise effectively, finance wisely and set their priorities.

Management Coaching: Creating A Leader

Here, managers are the most common clients. They are coached on how to be effective and efficient managers. You coach them to hone their leadership skills to the fullest. They usually face problems on decision making, relating to their work-team, co-workers and superiors. In the end, they are able to cope with the stresses of having a managerial position.

Spiritual and Ministry Coaching: Uplifting The Spirit

This field deals with the less materialized problems. It involves empowering your client’s spirit to live more abundantly through spiritual growth and awareness. It can be beneficial not only to the client but also to the coach. The product of a renewed mind and spirit in the end is very life rewarding.

Life Balance Coaching: Learning To Juggle

Clients who need to know how to balance all those different aspects of their lives whether physical, emotional, social, business, academic and the likes, usually need a life balancing coach. They get to learn their priorities and see clearly what is really important and what truly matters in their lives.

Health And Fitness Coaching: To Live A Long Life

Clients that have health problems, most commonly weight problems enroll in this kind of program.

As a coach, you do not play doctor or a fitness trainer (unless you are a medical doctor or qualified as a fitness trainer) here, but instead you’ll be the one to refer them to one. You are there to motivate them to make changes with positive effect on their lives and keep them going until they reach their goal.

Being a life coach means aiming for the holistic development of your client. So whatever form of life coaching you are in or planning to go into, remember that you shouldn’t forget to look at the whole picture.  _________________________________________________________________________________________________

Diamond Coaching Success Training

Being a life coach can be one of the most fulfilling jobs in the world. You can help people with their lives and make money at the same time. But being a life coach is not an easy job.

A person aspiring to be a life coach needs to have proper training as well as the heart and determination to help people. For those who want to be a life coach, here are some tips and pieces of advice on how to be a life coach.

Definition of Life Coach and Life Coaching

You may already have some personal ideas of what a life coach is and what he or she does. Some information of this may be true and some may be not. To remove any misconceptions of the job of being a life coach, it would be good to learn what a life coach and what life coaching really is all about.

Life coaching is rooted in the methods of executive coaching which were derived from techniques that were developed in leadership training and management consulting. It also forged its principles from different disciplines like psychology, sociology, mentoring, career development and positive adult development. Because of these though, it has been a misconception that life coaching is a kind of therapy but is actually not.

A life coach is someone who practices life coaching. He or she is someone who helps other people determine and achieve their goals. They use different methods to do this. Methods of life coaches include behavior modification, mentoring, behavior modeling, values assessment, and goal setting. They may also modify existing methods depending on the client to make the coaching more effective. Again, life coaches should not be considered as psychologists or therapists.

The Willingness To Help

One of the most important traits that an aspiring life coach should posses is the willingness to help people. If you are just in because of the financial benefits of life coaching then it would be better to look for another job or business. In life coaching, you should always think of helping first before thinking of the profit.

Communication Skills

Life coaching is communicating. In this job, you will always be interacting with people of different behavior, attitude and backgrounds in life. As a life coach, it is very important that you have good communication skills. You should know how to convey the ideas that you want your clients to hear.

Communication skills is not only about talking and conveying your ideas. It is also important for a life coach to know how to listen. In this line of job, listening is a skill that is critically important for its success.

Undergo Training

The willingness to help and communication skills are definitely crucial to posses but they will not be enough. As have been stated in the definition, life coaches make use of different methods to help their clients. Of course these methods will not just occur to anyone.

As an aspiring life coach, you need to undergo different training programs as well as related seminars. This will provide you with the skills on how to help your future clients. With the help of training, you will be armed with the tools of the trade.

These are the 3 most important things you should consider on how to be a life coach. And not just any life coach but a life coach who can effectively help other people.

In 2016 I will be launching the “Diamond Coaching Success Training” Coaching Certification Program. Stay connected for more information coming in the next few weeks.
